This tale of rebellion and consequences comes from the same teen magazine from which the creepy picture of Dave Hyles was taken. It’s a pip.

Typical fundamentalist horror story manipulation technique for use on impressionable youth and the “faithful” sheep.
Prsnikity pole cat said “God doesnβt kill people to teach us lessons.”
I dont know, thats questionable, maybe He does? according to the jewish biblical texts: Jobs sons and daughters and man servants, davids baby with bathsheeba. According to the christian new testament texts: lazzarus, that dudes daughter. There are probably more these are just off the top of my head.
If you replace the “seeds of rebellion” part with “drinking or texting while driving”, this could be something from Dear Abby. It does have some overlap with that glurgy standard “Please, God, I’m only 17!”, about the boy who kills himself after driving too fast. π
Dear Abby did run the “Please, God, I’m Only 17” letter several times in her column (supposedly because people kept requesting it).
What astonished me is that some people apparently believed it was a true first-person account. How was the kid supposed to have written the letter after he was dead? Did they think Abby was a medium or something?
He could have been paralyzed and dictating to someone, not unlike the rebellious Shannon, sort of. Trouble is, if that’s the case and he really woke up, as an answer to the “Please God don’t let me die!” prayer, he’d probably still be in the hospital for no short time. π
Nope, in the glurge piece, he’s clearly dead (not just paralyzed or unconscious) and watching his own funeral.

Then maybe he was dictating his story through a Ouija board? π
