Today across the United States we’ll sit down to feasts of plenty with people that we love. Having plenty is cause indeed for celebration and we should be thankful that we live in a country where for most of us food is more akin to entertainment than the deadly serious business of sustaining life. We should celebrate. We should give thanks. Others wish they could.

  6. What these kids need is spiritual food. You liberals give food that will only last a short while, while we give the food that last eternity.

    2. Uh, hope you think about what you’re saying; these kids need the “short-lived” food first if they are to stick around for the Eternal Bread of Christ. 🙁
      It’s deeds no less than words that are remembered, these kids are living reminders of Matthew 25:35, “For I was hungry, and you gave me food.”

      How do you reconcile the core, Gnostic premise that the body doesn’t matter with Fundamentalism’s insistence on the necessity of a bodily incarnation and resurrection?

    4. FundieFred, have you read Galatians 2:9-10 or any other Bible passages dealing with the poor? If you are not helping the poor you are not following New Testament Christianity.

      Then again, being a fundamentalist you are already off-track…

  8. Happy Thanksgiving. We have participated in our local food pantry sponsored by our new church. It is a reality check.
    I am very thankful for this year as it is the year I left the IFB. SFL was a big help. We are not alone! We have found a great church and that is something to be very thanful for. 🙂

    1. I am not. However, I was privileged to be able to go on one of their blogger trips earlier this year.

    I gave thanks yesterday when I laid Dad`s remains to rest. Eighty-nine years, well lived!

    Seeing these kids I am left with the hope that they will live as many years, and that their children will receive as much grace and favor as I received from my Dad.

    One of the websites I visit noted that Sri Lanka is slated for more austerity. Sad! May God’s people seek better for these little ones and all the children God has made.
