Hmm I was thinking an appropriate sermon today would be about the fools in proverbs.
My pastor jokingly wished me a happy Athiests’ Day (the fool has said in his heart…). He’s a recovering fundamentalist. π
Our pastor opened with “Happy Easter”, pause, “April Fool’s day”. Got a good chuckle.
Just as my husband got up to preach, the tech people put “Say Amen” up on the screen behind him so everyone said “Amen” really loudly. After my husband reacted to that, the screen instructed us to “Applaud”. It was very funny.
LOL
You people should really repent. You’re all a bunch of godless, bitter, backslidden heathens. Get on your knees and get right with God.
π
Yeah you’re right. You lead the way and the rest of us will follow! π π π
I’m praying for you, sister Macushlalondra. π
We were “jokingly” asked why we backslid to the back row this morning.
Oh how I wish I could have given him my real answer. How about because I’m tired of my family being attacked during your preacher’s sermon and moving from the front row to the back row is the only “I can’t stand you” statement I can make at this point.
Wow, Anonymous, I’m sorry. The passive aggressive nonsense is the hardest to fight against.
Yes I am one! And Proud of it! So there! π
This isn’t an April Fool, but I need to share with my friends. We just had lunch with my cousins, one of which was baptized this morning after recently realizing his need and being saved!!! (In a church with a jeans wearing, non-tie wearing pastor with loud music!)
Praise the Lord!
That’s wonderful!
That’s awesome, Uncle! It’s encouraging to see God move in people’s hearts.
well he better do it all over in a church that counts.
brilliant!
My wife’s version of April Fool’s today was to have me sit in the 3rd row at church…good times!
Texted our worship leader and asked if he could lead the entire service (I explained I was called away on an emergency!).
He has a servant’s heart and totally understood and was willing to step-up! Was sad to inform him that it was April Fools!
Wow, we were so focused on celebrating Palm Sunday this morning, that I think most people forgot it was April 1. The only person who played an April Fools joke on me was 12 years old.
Seems to me that you go to a good church, Papa Bear!
It’s either April Fools or hell has frozen over, because the site is loading a lot faster. Thanks Darrell! π
It’s great isn’t it? I got a new computer the other day which is much faster, plus this site has upgraded, so now I should be able to post more. Though I had a slow computer, this site was the one thing that loaded slowest so I had to make sure I really wanted to comment on something. π
God’s Good News got turned into Guilt Trips.
Freedom got turned into liberty.
Love got turned into Law.
“O foolish Galatians! … Let me ask you this one question: Did you receive the Holy Spirit by obeying the law of Moses? Of course not! You received the Spirit because you believed the message you heard about Christ. How foolish can you be? After starting your Christian lives in the Spirit, why are you now trying to become perfect by your own human effort?”
“So now that you know God (or should I say, now that God knows you), why do you want to go back again and become slaves once more to the weak and useless spiritual principles of this world? YOU ARE TRYING TO EARN FAVOR WITH GOD by observing certain days or months or seasons or years. I fear for you. Perhaps all my hard work with you was for nothing. Dear brothers and sisters, I plead with you to live as I do in freedom from these things, for I have become like you Gentilesβfree from those laws.”
“So Christ has truly set us free. Now make sure that you stay free, and donβt get tied up again in slavery to the law.”
“If you are trying to make yourselves right with God by keeping the law, you have been cut off from Christ! You have fallen away from Godβs grace.”
It’s funny you post that.
My fundy co-pastor used that passage this morning. At first I was surprised he even knew Galatians existed. But he turned the passage talking about “God’s Good News got turned into Guilt Trips” into a guilt trip. Wasn’t sure that was possible.
But he IS aware Galatians exists now. I call that a step in the right direction.
I can’t get beyond April Fool post – I just get a “this domain for sale” whenever I press the home button – help!

A silly blog dedicated to Independent Fundamental Baptists, their standards, their beliefs, and their craziness.
First first!
Congratulations!
Love your handle!
