    There’s a book called “Numbers” so we can use whatever manipulative methods we want to increase our numbers for Sunday morning. There is book called “Judges” so we can judge whoever we want. After all, it’s in the Bible!

  9. It’s so simple! Everyone knows that judging people is only okay when you do it.

  10. The great stumper for this cycle is to say, “I forgive you for judging me,” because 1) it still lets you say the other person is wrong for judging you, and 2) it puts you on the higher moral ground for forgiving the sin in them that you just identified.

    And that, as Bugs Bunny says, “is stragedy!”

    I’ve been hearing this a lot recently. It seems to be a major strategy when they just have nothing else to go on. “Hey your judging me and that is wrong, now I will quote a verse about edification and by doing so that must mean that you aren’t edifying.” If they are really out of things to say they may add, and I’m not kidding. “How can you argue against the Bible.”

    “Gee sir I didn’t realize quoting one verse and listening to your opinion was ‘Bible’.”

  15. The sad thing is that the book of Proverbs is full of admonitions about listening to reproof and how a wise man accepts correction. I don’t like it if someone criticizes (judges) me, but to be a wise person, I need to listen and learn from it. When you criticize the IFB and the answer is simply “stop being judgmental”, the IFBer isn’t being biblical. (BTW, I got a LOT more out of Proverbs when I started reading it in the ESV instead of the KJV. Verses that sounded vague or confusing suddenly were rich with meaning.)

  17. I don’t think that judging is sin, but openly judging (attacking) others can be very foolish, especially if the judgment is based on irrational thought processes. I consider the source when judged. Then I don’t feel so bad, and many times, I feel great!

    This is all cleared up by actually reading vs. 2 in Matthew 7.

    Jesus never said Judging was wrong in it’s place. Neither did Paul, John, etc.
